    Aux fan for tropical fridge

    Hey all

I'm thinking about adding an aux cooling fan to help move more air across the compressor and out the front of a GE profile side by side fridge.

It cools sufficiently, but the floor under the fridge gets pretty hot and i imagine some of the compressor heat end up warming the fridge itself.

My idea is to add a 30CFM (approx) 120mm 'case fan' to the back of the fridge, aimed at the compressor.

the added air movement should help evacuate heat from the condensor (a little) as well.

Is this a waste of time? Might it increase the efficiency of the fridge? The fan is cheap at about $15, so it it saves me 5% on power to run the fridge, it'll pay for itself in under a year (and might help the components of the fridge last longer)

    Thoughts?

incidentally: I plan to run the fan from a +12v lead that appears to be intended for a "CC fan- Optional" on the wiring diagram

    Yep, go for it.

The more added cooling for the compressor an/or the condenser the better.
