having problem with a daikin inverter outside unit..keeps cutting out with the code F3 which is high temperature discharge pipe control..engineers have tested circuits re gassed gone awayand again problem comes back engineers are at a loss to explain situation..any ideas or has any one had similar problem..getting desperate temperature in mid 30s

Hello Martin, we assume your engineers checked the resistance on the discharge thermistor? Even if it may be correct at ambient temperatures, it may still go awry at high temperatures.

If the gas charge has been checked and adjusted to recommended levels and the thermistor is within tolerances, then I would suggest that your condenser is dirty..........

Do you have any pressure readings?

Is the discharge sensor located in the pocket on the discharge line?

I have had a few call outs when the thermistor is away from the pipe and it does not sense the heat from the discharge pipe on running,

it can then trip out on the F3 fault.

We are having the same trouble at the moment with F3 on a 407c system. We have changed thermistor, changed PCB board at daikin's recommendation, re-covered leak tested and re-gassed and is still kicking out after a while on F3. System ran for around 3 weeks after the new board was fitted and then F3. Couldn’t say if the PCB fixed anything as the fault happened sporadically anyway.
Running pressures were fine I’m told.>>

Are you sure the coils are clean, they may look clean but they may not be.

What are the condensor air on and air off temps?

We had this problem going on for over 3 months, the guys checked everything from the fans, gas charge, sensors and cleaned the coils with a brush and RTU coil cleaner but none of it worked.

Eventually they hired a pressure washer and cleaned the coils, that was 2 years ago and the units have never faulted on HP faults since.

Definately a pressure wash on the coils, I was hailed a hero when I tested out my new Karcher at work and solved the ongoing problem.
