    Use of schrader valves

Is it common practice to use schrader valves under fan cycle switches? For the ease of removal. Systems are less than 20 tons in capacity.

'most' will use a schrader but sadly this isn't always the case

it's that 'is it isn't it?' moment when there is a squirt of liquid...

I have once changed a coupling on a fully charged system (I wrongly assumed it DID have a schreader) got frozen fingies for my efforts but i got them out of trouble..

these days -by law you can only- reclaim/change/recharge and then you can slot that particular make in your memory for next time

So by law are you saying you can't use a schrader?

no but your epa is pretty hot on deliberate refrigerant release and will impose a heavy fine/jail sentence for those caught..

therefore as a 'skilled tech' you could find it quite hard to argue that the release wasn't intentional in front of a judge..

an 'I thought it had one' plea would be deemed ignorance and ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law..

be safe and reclaim and you will add time to the job but also add to your credibility as a responsable engineer
