    Mcquay Chiller problem

Hi all, new here and finding this site very interesting, heres my issue. Called to a Mcquay ALS chiller last week, not able to investigate as customer wanting get home, so retrieved fault code after a quick test run of about 1 min before faulting, noisey comp, sounds like lubrication issue, a return visit booked in. No manual on site and Mcquay not that helpful, i could do with obtaining manual etc as much info as possible or even help on the fault.
The circuit 2 show "NO LIQUID RUN" ?
what does this mean, what checks can be carried out to determine the problem, any help woul be much appreciated.
Cheers, keep up the good work.

    Re: Mcquay Chiller problem

The ALS chiller has probably got frame 2 Hall Screw compressors fitted, the oil charge is calculated upon the amount of refrigerant charge and is pumped into the refrigerant circuit while running. the No Liquid Run is caused due to either a faulty opto sensor which is located in the compressor body at low level or lack of refrigerant liquid injection into the machine, is there a solenoid in the liquid injection line?

Yes, there is a solenoid ion the liquid injection which tested ok, put it down to lack of refrigerant due to a restricted drier.
Going back soon with new core, will let you know.
    cheers
