Mcquay Chiller problem
Hi all, just joined and found this site to be very interesting and full of knowledge.
Any way heres my issue, went to a Mcquay chiller the other day late on, customer wanting to get away so only got the fault reading and a return visit due this week.
ALS chiller with 2 screws, 1 system not running and showing a fault on "NO LIQUID RUN" ?
No manual on site and cant get hold of any info from Mcquay, can any one pass on info on where abouts i can get manuals etc or even help with the fault.
cheers, keep up the good work..

Re: Mcquay Chiller problem
Yes thanks, had a quick look at the manuals and they dont appear to be the same as the chiller, different model. Any way being to the job today and identified a restriction in the drier, a return visit will be required to complete.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Mcquay Chiller problem
I have different type of problem. The unit goes to "condenser pump maintenance" alarm. The problem is that unit doesn't have a condenser pump (it's air cooled), and there fore there is no condenser pump hour counter in the maintenance menu. I have all required passwords, but they don't help. I've been looking for the option to switch the unit to water-water type so i could get the timer in the menu, but this option also doesn't exist. Need help. The type of unit is ALS E with 2xCarel PCO2 controler. As I said, I have all passwords but they don't do much good. I have some manuals, but as the unit is air cooled there is nothing about this. The code and error is mentioned in the manual, but that's all.

Re: Mcquay Chiller problem
Hi there gachot sorry but you have no choice but to call in mcquay techs to upgrade the software on the controller
this is an official mcquay bug!!!
u have no way of solving this yourself, this comes from experience.
by the way next time u should open a new and seperate thread let us know how it went.Last edited by goshen; 08-09-2009 at 07:25 PM.

Re: Mcquay Chiller problem
There is a way to reset the controller but you need to get all the settings out of every menu pull the battery backup for the chip then re-insert all the settings then 3 years later do it all again. Sorry.

If you have EasyTool software you could easily change that settings!

Re: Mcquay Chiller problem
2 goshen: I thought that this is a bug in the software and I am already in process of getting the new software. Sorry about the tread.
2 HallsEngineer: I had that in mind. There is also an option in the menu "reset to factory settings" or similar, that could maybe also do the trick, but as fixing is not that urgent (the machine works in alarm), better to ask than to reset all settings and than put them all back for nothing. If you say it will do the trick, it's not a problem. I have 3 same chillers so I have backup
I even thought to take the software from the unit with less working hours and put it in this unit (with Carel key). One unit have the condenser controller and works thrue the winter, and the other two units work only in summer days, so the difference in working hours is big.
I will deal with Nike123 directly as he is about 400km away in the same country
Thanks for now. I am waiting to see will I get the new software from factory, if not, I will try some of your advices and let you know.

Re: Mcquay Chiller problem
no liquid run is detected by the liquid sensor on a frame two at least and means that you may not have enough liquid being injected into thwe compressor , not a good thing , low charge or failed liquid injection solenoid ( unlikely)
prob not a solid state relay failiure as i think that the liquid inj solenoid operates through the compressor contactors aux contacts . prob low refrigerent
AM I A SLUT OR WAT !!
