Smile Good ole days at WH O`GORMAN (UK)

    Hello Peps

Sitting here reading stuff, and suddenly find myself with a sentimental longing for the past. I wonder,, are there any Ex O.G.engineers in the forum?

    Hi All,

I started my time at O'Gs at the armadale branch and was then moved to hussmann Glasgow during the take over. That was when webram, tattie, davie adamson, john brown, raymond caldwell, ian maxwell, john jackson,George lloyd, davie smith and Graham Ogilvie was the Branch manager.

Webram was the first engineer that i went to a service call with, hence the little knowledge that i managed to gain

If i remember correctly ( it is along time ago ) we had loads of work in B'ham. Whithin weeks of the takeover OG's lost a major contract , i think it may have been International ? which then meant too many engineers for the work we had.

Alot of the Prestcold guys went to Stanleys as a result.

Re: Good ole days at WH O`GORMAN (UK)

I was with Prestcold Southern based at Boscombe between 1972-1974.Attended refresher courses at Greenford branch on release of new equipment. The turquoise blue service vans had the "By Appointment" logo and still retained that after the take-over.
I remember the management complaining about"rock-bottom" quotes from the ever-increasing numbers of small "cowboy-outfits" for new installations and then Prestcold taking over the servicing at the end of the 1 year guarantee. But Prestcold Refrigeration were a subsidiary of British Leyland and was on the market for 12 million for many years as\ the only branch of the group making money.Money required to inject new life into BL .
I can safely say the engineers in Prestcold Bournemouth were amongst the most intelligent/competent group I have ever worked with.
And that was some 36 years ago.
