    Water circuit on chiller system

Hi folks, how often should the water be changed in a chiller system?? annually?? what treatment does the water need?? would it affect chiller performance if there was very dirty water??

    Regards

    Alan

Dirty water leads to poor flow over the evaporator, check the pressure drop inlet to outlet, if it's not correct chiller will suffer low pressure trips and flow switch trips.

Water should be sampled (aqua tech in togher do this), and maybe a specialist treatment company brought in to add corrosion inhibitors etc.

Glycol can also gunge up and tends to sit in the evap, if draining the system the water may be classed toxic if it has glycol etc in it.

chilled water should be treated with chemical mixing to prevent corrosion in the pipes.
piping system should have strainer/filter just to collect dirt.

when the chilled water is dirty it's density drop eventually hence will effect the cooling capacity. chiller will run overload just to meet the requirement of the load.
