Need help trouble shooting mini split ac error code "e4"

Was hoping some of you gurus could help me out with trouble shooting my chigo mini split ac that I've installed.

After installing unit ran great for about 18 hours, then threw up an error code of "e4". If you turn system off then back on again, it will run good for about 30 minute then error code pops up every time.

So, after doing extensive research on these units through forums and other means of information I've come up short. The only thing I have found is this which is from the manufacturers website:

    If unit displays "e4"

1、 Check whether the winding resistance and
operation current of the compressor are normal.
2、Check whether the high and low pressure is normal
    when the unit is running.
3、Check (whether the coil pipe sensor is normal)
whether the contact of the inserter on the circuit
board is well, the coil pipe temperature sensor is
fixed, the evaporation of the indoor unit is well,
the key is to check the evaporator temperature
detected by the coil pipe temperature sensor has
reached the cooling or heating temperature.
4、Check whether the surface of the condenser is too
dirty, it should be cleaned when it is too dirty.
5、Check whether the capacitance of the outdoor motor
and the fan is damaged, it should be replaced when
    it is damaged.
6、If the above items are normal, the electric control
    board should be replaced.

Ok, after contacting manufacturer tech, he ensured me that #6 would be the problem so he sent me a new electronic box as well as a new capacitor. After replacing both the unit still shows "e4". My thinking is that this cancels out #5 and #6, also the unit is brand new and spotless so I think that also cancels out #4. If my thinking on these three not being the problem is incorrect please let me know.

So, this leaves us with #1, #2, and #3. Unfortunately I'm a novice but feel capable of checking these three with a little help.

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated, and if pictures will help I would gladly post some.

    Thank you.

The only thing you would be able to check yourself is the discharge temperature after the unit been running for 20 minutes.

Remove the covers so you are able to see the compressor, start the unit and wait for 20 minutes then measure the temperature of the smaller pipe connected to the compressor.

If it's above ~90 Degrees Celcius, call in a professional.

Re: Need help trouble shooting mini split ac error code "e4"

Thanks for the response. After running for 20 minutes, both the smaller and larger pipes where hot to touch about 90 degrees or so, whereas when I initially hooked it up the larger pipe would frost up. What would cause this, a leak?

Unfortunately I can't find someone in my area that knows how to work on these things, small town, mostly window units round these parts lol.

    Hmm,
My bet is that there is little or no refrigerant left in it.

Only someone with the right tools and knowledge will be able to help you, sorry.

But on the bright side, he (or she, let's not be sexist here) does not necessary need experience of these units.
You could try and find someone who repairs the fridges for the local shop perhaps.
Any fridge guy should have the tools to do the job.

    Good luck.

Thank you! I will see who I can find...in the meantime, there must be a leak of some sort. I sprayed each connection on both ends with soapy water but see no bubble. Also I see no "oily" leaks. This unit came pre-charged, any sure way of telling where its leaking out at?

Unfortunately not, unless you know for sure that there still is positive pressure in the system.

That's why you need someone with the tools.

Some leaks also just leak when the system is hot/operational/at high pressure.
