does anyone know wot the regulations are for venting through prv's to the outside of a building, i.e do they have to be piped to the roof ? cant find much info about this. many thanks.

Any safety relief pipes should discharge to a safe place, be this at ground level or a roof level.

The discharging liquid or gas should not be directed where someone can get hurt from the discharge.

Also it must not go into a enclosed or dangerous space.

this is only an opinion dont know exact regs but what brian is saying is right ..... but why not pipe it into the suction pipe before suct accum of course..... any body see a problem with this ....

YES! Big problem.

The PRV vents the entire system should there be a dangerous increase in pressure. Putting it back in the suction will do more harm than good.

The OP is in the UK.
Brian had it right, but the route and exit point of the vent pipe should be documented.
The Chapter and Verse, should you need it, is in EN 378, the European standard on refrigeration safety.
