Question BEKO AP930 Flashing Error/Fault Code E8 - advice needed

Hi we have a BEKO AP930 FF and the display is Flashing Error/Fault Code E8 - in another forum we have been informed this E8 error code means an ice maker sensor failure. I have found places to buy this item online and thankfully it is not expensive ( less than £10.00)

We want to try and fix this ourselves as we have had such a bad experience with Service Engineers with our previous BEKO Fridge Freezer ..

We moved into a new build house December 97 with all new kitchen appliances .. From day 1 the BEKO FF was faulty, we called for an engineer and they decided what was wrong and orderdc the part .. The following week they came back to replace the part .. Still the FF was faulty so they diagnosed something esle and ordered another part , and so we went on .. Each time a new engineer came diagnosed a new fault and ordered a new part.. In total over several months had more engineers come out than I can recall, enough spare parts ordered to practically replace everything in the FF ( we even had spare parts arrive that had not been ordered) and engineers turn up not knowing what they had come to do, then insisting on replacing parts that had literally been replaced the week before or worse still parts that in theory had nothing wrong with them !!! .. We had engineers turn up do a lot of head scratching ago away not bothering to do anything or even make any phonecalls to their supervisors etc some engineers did not even bother talking to us with the expection of a few grunts it was a nightmare, plus I am very ill and disabled, at one paint we were ready to put the FF on the street corner and insist BEKO came to collect it ..

After nearly everything that could be replced had been replaced and the FF still was not working properly we still could not get them to replace the FF we were told company policy not to do so ???? ( Ironically the amount BEKO paid in replacing spare parts could probably have paid for a new FF by this point too )

Eventually in April 08 after many phonecalls, emails and escalations they finally agreed to replace the FF.. BUT Initially they refused to give us a new 12 mtnh warranty as they wanted us to accept a 3 month warranty as the previous FF had been delivered to the builders in the Aug 4 mnths before the house was completed , so they tried to say we only had 4mths of warranty left.. After more escalations we finally got a FULL 1 year warranty on our new FF .. ( Because of the nightmare with the 1st FF we really want to try to repair the FF ourselves , as now its out of warranty if we were to have x engineers come out ordering x number of spare parts it would cost us an absolute fortune ...

I have found several places to buy the ice making sensor online and thankfully it is not expensive ( less than £10.00) .. but our Beko FF is approx 18months old and therfore unfortunatley it ran out of warranty approx 6mnths ago .. We have been quoted £65 for call out & Labour excluding parts by the service engineers but we want to try to fit the part ourselves.

My husband has had lots of experience repairing household appliances over the years and is pretty good at it so is willing to have a go with the BEKO..

Does anyone know where I can find a service manual online for the AP930 NOT a user manual as we have one of those, and coudl not find any useful help re error codes other than to call an engineer ..

Failing that does anyone have a wiring diagram for the BEKO AP930 ..

If not maybe someone could give a brief instructions here on where the ice maker sensor is located and how to fit the replacement..

Description of what we can see Standing in front of the Freezer ( having removed the ice box/dispenser)

Two wires are visible .. One is on the right located just below the ice cube tray area behind the "lever"this (wire is covered in 2 sections of white casing and in the gap approx 1/4 cm red wire is visible)

Directly below this is a white panel with several screws in the middle of which is the fitting to attach/grip the ice box/dispensor

Running from behind this panel you can see the other wire. This one is Yellow & Green and is situated on the left hand side . Barely a cm of the end of this wire is visible and finishes in a silver clip is held in place with a philips style cross screw..

If someone can give advice on which of these wires is the correct one and any other wiring instructions we woudl be very grateful

    Many Thanks in advance

Question Re: BEKO AP930 Flashing Error/Fault Code E8 - advice needed

Hi Happy thanks for the advice, sorry to be a pain but need to be certain we are talking about the same sensor/wire ..

When you say under the ice mould are you referring to the cable that I can see on the right of the ice cube tray .

"One is on the right located just below the ice cube tray area behind the "lever"this (wire is covered in 2 sections of white casing and in the gap approx 1/4 cm red wire is visible) "

Out of interest has anyone here replaced one of these sensors before ? If so any tips /do's or don'ts

Once again I thank you in advance for your advice
    Regards
