Finding a leak...
We are having a problem finding a leak on a soil stack, over 8 floors that our contract side have fitted. They have done a test and it keeps dropping very slowing, they have spent several days and cannot find a leak.
Is there any instrument that can be bought to find the leak if they were to say, pressurise with nitrogen or some form of inert gas.
Thanks

Hello Marc,
Have they tried using a dye?
You could also try smoke (as with duct testing)Quidvis Recte Factum Quamvis Humile Praeclarum.

Re: Finding a leak...
Hi Marc,
Just wanted to second the smoke suggestion as I am sure that I have heard of this from somewhere.
I saw your name under finding a leak and felt compelled see if this thread was up there with that legendary City Multi leak!

Re: Finding a leak...
I have heard good reports of those ultrasonic leak finders when i did my f gas at Business Edge, think it had a noise generator to make the ultrasonics for the detector to find.

Re: Finding a leak...
Hi guys sorry for the late reply,
Next time i won't use the title "finding a leak" it brings back nightmares
Yeah smoke sounds like an option, it would just mean capping all of the toilets on each floor.
michael 030654, what is loktrace, i've never heard of it?
monkey spanners, i've just looked into the ultrasonic leak detectors with noise generators. They are the mutts nuts i want one, i'm going to suggest this to my boss. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.
