r410a flare angle : o /
can any 1 give me a definative answer to making a good flare using conventional tools for a 410 system?
have read somewhere that it is a different angle flare to everything else!
have also read that using normal tools will work fine if you change proceedure a bit!
how can this be right? if they are differnet angles they will never mate correctly?!?
like i say tho, i am new to all of this and may have some info wrong,
am interested,
can any 1 enlighten me pls
cheers ian

They are the same.
They are about 45 degrees.
The different flaring tool used for flares now
not only flares out the pipe but it does it in
a sort of oscillating motion. As the tool rotates
and copresses the pipe it oscillates slightly causing
a smoother flare. It also has a torque ratchet built
in to stop the over tightening and over compresion
of the flare.

I believe that the flared part is also longer than the previous ones.

Look at ridgid.com for the 458R flaring tool
This is the flaring tool I have used for many years. It rolls the flare into place for a no screw up flare. Perfect every time. It has an eccentric screw and not a centered screw. More pricy than others but worth every extra dollar. It is 45 degrees
