Carrier 50JZ036 compressor failure.
Has anyone had dealings with the above unit. Its an air handling type heat pump unit serving one space.
After about 12 months the unit failed bringing down power off the same board with it!
This turned out to be a broken compressor.
We had problems with the installation of the unit and I suspect that this has led to the failure. The unit served an existing duct system which hadn't been used in years. A redundant heater battery now redundant had to be removed. It was completeley clogged up therefore no air was getting through. My suspicion is the controller (which later turned out to be the incorrect model for the unit) was calling for heat which obviously wasn't being delivered. Therefore wearing the compressor.
Has anyone else had similar issues, would be interested in peoples comments.
I have to say I have found Carrier dreadful to deal with.
