    Glycol measurment

Does any one know if there is a readily available table that decribes the specific gravity of a various %mix of Water and Propylene Glycol. I can mearsure the specific gravity and I know there is Propylene Glycol in the water chiller I need to know if the is enough or more acuratley if it is in the condition the customer believes it to be. And are there any other or better ways of measuring the freezing point of the solution

    Hello blueboy.

On this site you will see what you need to measure the glycol gravity.

    http://www.misco.com/Digital/glycol.html

There is an older gadget that looks like the one you measure the acid in cars batteries, I'm not sure about english name.

The propylene glycol instrument is a dual scale hydrometer graduated in specific gravity and percent propylene glycol by weight at 60°F. A chart is supplied indicating freezing points, boiling points and per cent by weight volume equivalents. Length 305 mm. go here:

Thanks for all you help. I have measured the specific gravity as advised and it is 1.22 at 20 C does anyone know what the freezing point of the solution is and what % I have in the system

    Thumbs up Re: Glycol measurment

The website that Chemi posted is the product that I use. I use the orange colored refractometer that they sell. It has a scale for ethylene and proplene as well as battery acid. They are very acurate and I do not have to compensate for the temperature. Well worth the investment.
