    Reclaim

If you remove all the refrigerant from a system ready to replace due to a leak (r407c) do you have to add oil aswell? As oil will have been removed from system during the reclaim.

    Thanks

    Re: Reclaim

if you had a leak on R407C or R410A,or sall i say ,a blend refrig, you to trow away the refrig and refill completely whit new. the oil on a hermetic is sufficient and do not have to add more.

    Re: Reclaim

Only R407c was said to be replaced with a complete new refill.
But according to Rhodia - largest French gas manufacturer - is even this no longer true. According to a press article, you simply may add R407c

If you reclaim with a recovery unit, then the oil stays in the system.

Even if I vac the system with the valves all open? Is this the same for all refrigerants? Whats signs will there be if it is low on oil? As is a sealed comp?

    Re: Reclaim

You vac pump or reclaim machine should not remove any oil from the system unless you have made a connection directly to the bottom of the oil sump.

    Re: Reclaim

if you want to reclaim the refrig, make sure the recoverymachine is higher than the unit,so the oil gets a chance to flow back.

and yes peter_1,i am aware of the article,we spoke of this before, but in doubt and the client is paying........i say no more.

you could also start your vac from the receiver side so any oil that is foaming will stay in the system and not in the vac pump then open your suction side to double evac

    Re: Reclaim

so many ways and tools to recover refrig for a system, just make sure that you have an open loop,al valve's have to be open,so the refrig can pass.
