Hotpoint FFA71 Problem - Time to throw away?

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I am having with my 4 year old Hotpoint FFA71.

I woke up today and everything that's water in the fridge part of the fridge was frozen, and the freezer was warm. The "Freezer High Temp" light was on. Also, there was lots of water on the floor and the "freezer warm"

Is there something I could do to repair it, or is it time to get a new one?

Thanks a lot for any advice you can offer,

    Michael

Dear Check for the following things

    1. Check the Fan of Eva.
    2. Check for thermosts
    3. Check for Defrost water Drain
    4. Check for Defrost Thermal fuse

Also before anything switch your ref off and Let all the ice melt.

Your Ref is OK hence there is minor prob as i guess.

    Thanks
    Amit

I am not sure how to do any of this... the sides of the refrigerator seem cold, the back is warm, as I said, there was water leaking from the bottom... I'll try to leave it off for a day and see if it goes back to life afterwards.

I've had this fridge for 4 years, the one before, I had for 3 years, and the one before for 3 too.

My grandfather had a fridge that's 40 years old! Granted, it needed manual defrosting but it still works. Why is everything sold in stores these days such plastic rubbish?

I have a manually defrostable fridge working already for 24 years. It has no electronics at all.
