Suniso 3GS instead of Maneurop white oil 160P

Is it safe to use Suniso 3GS instead of Maneurop white oil 160P. I need to make some oil change at Maneurop SM 160-4 compressors (R22 scroll) and I am not able to find quickly enough Maneurop oil.
Maneurop software states for that compressor mineral (white) oil that has cinematic viscosity of 32 cSt (centiStokes) (=150 SUS) but it doesn't say at what temperature, and I suppose it is at 40°C.
Cinematic viscosity of Suniso 3GS is stated as 29,6 cSt (=140 SUS) at 40°C.
Are these two mineral oils could be compatible and mixable.
Is this 2,4 cSt difference in viscosity significant.

    Thanks for your input!

I am little concerned with viscosity difference of 20 SUS between Maneurop 160P (if that number mean SUS viscosity) oil and Suniso 3GS (140 SUS) in scroll compressor usage, but I may be wrong. Also, do they have aditives which may produce problems when they are mixed, is my consern.

Thanks for that link, it is useful, but only for Emkarate oils (not readily available for me).
It looks like their RL32H oil have been compatible with Maneurop SZ scroll compressors (HFC) and not for R22.
I am looking for more details about viscosity compatibility of Suniso 3GS and Maneurop 160P oil.
Is there any Bitzer mineral oil of 150 SUS viscosity? They are availiable to me in 3-5 days!

    Hi Nike123
The 3GS is fine for new maneurops which are supposed to take 160p.

Put 4GS in run in compressors. If good practices of moisture mitigation ,proper superheat are set ther is no issues with substituting in generic oil.

You can go crazy looking at xyz specifications as it is not critical in most cases

Basically their software is showing a 32 weight oil. This would be similar to all other recips running at medium and low temperature.

The additives only work on a new system/compressor first run. Any additives in the new oil added to the old system will not effect anything. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Change the oil, run until the oil starts to get dirty, then change again. Repeat until clean. This may be only once, with subsequent changes after this only after a year or two. Or it may be 6 times in a row, it all depends on the system.

    Kind Regards Andy
If you can't fix it leave it that no one else will:rolleyes:

In that case I sorted it with oredering original oil from Danfoss. It was safe way for me.
But, you guys gave me good information for future!
    Thanks, and hapy NY.

Re: Suniso 3GS instead of Maneurop white oil 160P

    Hi nike123,

I had a similar problem too, I wanted to replace the 160P with 3GS. Before doing so I asked Danfoss Maneurop about it and they said that it was not on their list of approved replacement. They also said as long as it was the closest viscosity it is good to go with. I asked Sunoco about it but they never came with an answer.

In theory and in practice using 3GS to replace 160P is possible (after draining it out of course) but if something was to happen to the compressor, you will be the only one to blame. I did it on many compressors that has been worn off their warranty and so far so good.

To be safe it is better to use the recommended oil by the manufacturer or on their approved list.
