Hi Steveboy
Welcome to the forum
As far as hand tools go I will recommend you buy the cheepest you can get innitially. When it comes to measurement instruments such as gauges, meter etc and only if you could afford to buy good quality - I bought class 1 gauges imported from switzerland (refco) glycerine filled and bellows not bourdon tube. Meters I choose Fluke - they have a big range of quality and accurate stuff for HVACR. Then a yellow jacket ritchie superheat calculation kit is helpfull for troubleshooting with an extra long thermometer for those long schrouder stems, good for charging too. Also a few solanoid magnet for vacing, charging and testing. Then some trick software on an apple Iphone goes along way.
Cheers
