Does anyone have a easy explanation for the automatic mode of the Sanyo SAP series?

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
hi
automatic mode enables the unit to go between heating and cooling to maintain the desired setpoint...however i do belive the temp differential is larger than heat/cool only....it can be 2 degrees either side of the setpoint...ie in auto set at 23 degree it will cool to 21 and heat to 25...

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
The 2C is nessasary to avoid the unit constantly switching between cooling and heating. Because the unit heats to 1C above/below setpoint if the differential was the same then the unit would switch modes as soon as it went above set point so the 2C is to stop this happening.

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
My client has lost the remote and the explanation for the emergency mode (same as auto) in the manual is not easy to understand. The room seems to be getting to hot. The manual goes on about using the outdoor sensor as well as the indoor sensor to get to a set point?

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
Emergency mode is different to Auto Mode, it will decide whether cooling or heating when you turn on but you can not alter the temperature, its set automatically.

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
Thanks all. I already have the manual, but it doesnt make much sense to me with regard to using out door temp sensor as well as indoor to decide a set point?

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
Not sure about Sanyo, but some other brands use the outdoor temp. sensor to save energy.
Part of its 'ECO' system :-)
It will use the outdoor thermisor to predict what will be required inside next.
This can aso cause problems in situations like a PABX/server room where the inside heat load will remain with a dropping ambient temperature.
Quite often it is employed to reduce the deadband, ie the setpoint for heating and cooling can be the same because of the added data...

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
Hi Drew,
Could you please mention model number?
A manual says :
"If automatic operation mode has been selected with the remote controller, operation begins in HEAT, SENSOR DRY, or COOL mode depending on the room temperature and outdoor temperature at the time operation starts."
So basically, once the mode was decided it will keep on running in that mode, where ever the conditions are changing during the operation.

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
HI D,
l Sanyo Sap indoor units have the same function in Auto mode.
They will control to +/-1 degrees C. But Mode change is not straight forward.
so here goes.
If set point is 20 C and the indoor is in Auto Mode Cooling. The indoor will start cooling at 21 and stop at 20. but if the room temp continues to fall. the mode will not change until you are 3 degrees off set point . Or 1 degree off set point for 1 hour. So for a cooling to heating mode change with a set point of 20 C. the room must drop to 17 C or be at 19C or below for 1 hour.
The same on Auto heating set point of 20 to change to cooling the room must be above 23 or above 21 for 1 hour.
Simple really. hahahahahaha

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
HI D,
This is only for the SAP range SPW range will give +/- 1 degreec control in auto if required settings are made on EEprom chip on indoor PCB

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
So is this what happens when the remote is lost and we start the unit with indoor switch? What set point is chosen?

Re: Sanyo Automatic mode
Hi D,
When the indoor switch is used thw unit will start on last cooling and run permanently ignoring temperature
When the indoor switch is pressed twice it selects heating
