replacing of r12 with r22 in dwm 1.5 hp

    dear membs
I have one refrigerator system for ice cream, on the plate of the compressor there is not written type of refregirant,I disassembeled cover and found out on the its expantion valve written R12:
    1)Can I sure refregirant is R12?
2)If yes ,for getting low tempreture can i replace refregirant with R22 without changing of expantion valve?
    Thanks lot .

You really do need to change that TX valve if you put R22 , I think youll find it will either flood back continuously or starve the evap with the wrong TX valve , as for the compressor where do you start those compressors can stall if r12 is replaced with a higher preasure refrigerant and if it does run the head preasure may be 2 high .
is there any reason why you are not trying I49 instead of r 12 , its ozone friendly and no oil change is needed

look out for refrigerant & oil burn.valve plate probably not suitable for refrigerant 22 application.i wouldnt waste my time, use a drop in or retrofit to 134a
