water flow
hi all I need anequation to calculate the flow of chilled water for 1 TR (24000BTU) to air cooled water chiller,please.

The equation is Q = m x c x dt
Where:
Q = Refrigerating capacity
m = mass flow of hydraulic fluid
c = specific heat capacity of hydraulic fluid
dt = the temperature difference of the hydraulic fluid
What water flow and return temperatures are you expecting, and will you be using glycol in the hydraulic fluid?

Sorry, but this is in IP units, as I am from the U.S.
Frank is pointing out that the required gallons/minute depends on the desired temperature drop of the chilled water temperature. General practice is to design for 10 degrees F. Therefore, the formula in IP units is:
gallons/minute/ton = 12,000BTU/hr*(1/delta T)*gal/lb*(lb*degF/Btu)[specific heat]*hr/min
For water, and 10 degrees F delta T, the result will be 2.4 gpm/ton
