Lost Remote Control for Split System AC
I have lost my remote control for a 2.5 hp Sairon split system air conditioner which I bought through Ebay. It was brought to Australia from China in limited numbers. The retailer no longer exists.
I have tried to control the unit with a replacement universal control without success and the codes for the Sairon are not listed anywhere.
I am interested to know the advice I may receive from technicians who regularly work with split system AC. It would seem to be a very frustrating and time consuming task to program a remote control without having the manufacturer's code to use.
I can even envisage that it may be cheaper to replace the whole unit than waste time I what may be a fruitless task.
Has anyone got any easy answers or experiences with the type of problem I have?
Incidently there is nothing wrong with my unit apart from not being able to control it. (I am an old bugger and in my day no one considered necessary to have a remote to control an air-conditioner.)

Open the front cover on the indoor unit and see if there are manual controls there.

Get some pictures of the indoor and outdoor units and maybe electrical terminals or diagrams as someone else might know the unit under another name.

Allthough you havn't got the specific model code for the controller you should be able to carry out an auto search with the universal unit.

Try entering the codes from all the chinese manufacturers, it will only be a re badged unit.

Re: Lost Remote Control for Split System AC
What about reading remote control user manual. There must be in there described how to use it when code is unknown.
