    R22 instaed of R414A

Here a question for you experts. I have a old vending machine that had the compressor replaced and filled with r414a.. well after a few years it appears to have leaked out and now i'm considering refilling it with r22. I understand i will have to replace the compressor oil with mineral oil( how much oil should i use??) and make sure o-rings are non-HNBR O-rings. So here's the question...by using r22 does this mean that I won't have the cooling capacity as with r12 or r414a??? should i just stick with r414a or make the switch back(I have lots of r22 and no r414a)

    Hi.
1st: Look for 'replaced' compressor documentation -there you should have find which refrigerants you can use-or somoething thats explais how and whith what fill it.
2nd: Ammount of oil. This i do not know. You should consult with tech support(of compresoor or refrigerant distributor)
3rd: If you change refrigerant it definitely affect coolig capacity. The question is how much and what direction. Try to find enthalpy diagrams for R22 and r414a. Then from working pressures and temepratures you should be able to find how big will be the diference between.

No, R414a was a drop in replacement for R12; chances are the TXV is for R12.
And it probably already contains mineral oil since the dawn of time.

Original post was R-22 verus R-414A, who mentioned R12, I am thinking R-414 A is actually R-404 A I stand to be corrected,

No, R414a exists and is a drop in replacement of R12.
