    Danfoss Icad 900 actuator/motors

Is anyone else having problems with the Danfoss ICAD 900. The trouble I'm having is that they are not closing or opening fully, sometimes. We are using them indoors, on flooded scape surface heat exchangers, as liquid feed and also as modulating suctions valves. The liquid feed is fully open or closed and might stay open for 5 or 6 days.
Any ideas? Thanks, for any help.

    Hi,
    here are some ideas:
    - check you're voltage supplied to the ICAD; not at the power supply but really at the ICAD terminals. Is it really 24Vdc ? Often I see the voltage supplied to the ICAd is too low (bad power supply, cables too long, wrong section, ...). And if this happens, sometimes there is not enough power to move the ICM.
    - Is there any ice build up between ICAD and ICM? Do you have a spindle heater installed?

We don't have any heaters. There is ice build up, we are having more trouble out of the ICADS that stay fully open, the ICADS that are modulating seem to work properly. My theory is that there is ice build up between the motor and the ICM when these valves don't move, and when it goes to close it slips and doesn't get back to fully closed. Also, some valves are failing with an A4 code in the MMI, which could be a power supply problem, correct? Thanks for your help.

    Hi rvmitch
There are heater elements available for just your problem!
Check out pages 7 + 58 for details in the manual I have posted.
    (see link below)
Also check out pages 67 + 68 which are the alarm and parameter settings!

A4 is "Low Fail Safe Supply"

These valves are brilliant provided they are set up correctly.
Did you log the parameter setting when you commissioned it?

I definitely think you would benefit from the heaters mentioned and sorting out your fail safe supply.
    Good Luck Grizzly

    Thanks grizzly.
I have 3 heaters I'm going to install when we have some down time. I talked them into 3 to test the idea, we have about 80 Icads so they were a little reluctant to spend $20,000 on these heaters if they don't work.

    Wow!
    What a lot of valves.
That's good sensible approach to the problem.
Incidentally do you have fail safe supplies fitted?
As they are an optional extra.

No we don't have the fail safe installed. You are talking about the back up battery, right?
