For no good reason, else than habit. I advice all of my customer for R507 instead than R404a

R507 has no so much problems with the condensingpressure in winter than R404A. you can mix both without problems.
R507 is manufactured by another company than R404A, R404A gets more publiciti, thas all

Yes R507 is morphable with R404a, and in fact it's made up by the same constituents except R134a

remember the betamax (i think)verses the vhs ? its all about branding ...r404a won out ... but i would say r507 is a better gas

I am working on a design and insallation of blast freezer and think that R507 may give more cooling capacity and depth for the same compressors used for both R404 & R507 but need answer to see the effect on the designed capacity of other parts.And need any notice about advantage and disadvantage concern this refrigerant that made R404a more used preferable .

probably a bit late for this post but 507 i have found to better in high ambients & more efficient overall.invented by a south aussie from loxton i believe.havent used 404 since working for myself the last 7 years

R-507 does not exibit glide where R-404A does. This will result in R-507 to be about 1.5% more efficient. Though not significant, problems with maintaining tight temperature tolerance can be an issue with any level of glide. Pricing may also be an issue depending on where you are located.

R-507's performance were better than R-404A, when doing a tuna boat. We went down to -70 C suction with R-507 on DWM Copeland 2-Stage Compressors.
Had to change to low temp. oil that can operate up to -107 C.
For some reason R-404A got stuck at -53 C Suction.
