Mortuary Fridge
I have a requirement for a small mortuary fridge capable of holding 3 bodies.
Appreciate any guidance on UK based suppliers with contact numbers.

Re: Mortuary Fridge
.
Abe,
If you do a UK Google 'Mortuary equipment', you'll find specialist suppliers listed. Coolers come in all sizes and capacities, but you'll need to check the holding times and temperatures against current regulations.
Kenyon's used to be a prominent company as I recall, in Manchester, I believe, there are others.. but things have moved on a lot since I was on the tools.
One thing to consider if you have guys on the tools is the perceived risk for those fitters working on mortuary coolers in the wild, as it were.
I think that there are some mandatory precautions that now includes guarding against HIV, hepatitis etc and other contact-borne diseases.

Re: Mortuary Fridge
stancold at bristol have done them for me in the past,if you get my drift. the box is cheap but the racking and trays are not, its only meat and short term untill the undertaker comes so 1 deg C is fine,no heaters needed, just run the fans continious, the ones i have worked on run 1-4 C, depending on the operator, there are kit type ones but not sure who sells them.

Re: Mortuary Fridge
One thing to consider is how to maintain a unit and easy access to parts.
Ok story for ya: As a 17y 2nd year, i was paced on the slab and pushed into a body fridge 10 holding capacity, 9 in the box!
After removing the evap cover with door shut cause the boys thought it would be a laugh! torch in mouth , oh god the smell!! Hitting the cover to remove it yields this green slime that splatted me on the face!
Then me kicking trying to get out! great laugh for the boys, till they let me out, i come out of that box like ferrell cat swinging!
After removing my work mates eye ball from my finger! i washed my face under a wall mounted urn, and had more needles than i care to remember!
Moral of the story: Maintenance access!

Re: Mortuary Fridge
not nice i hate things like that now, allthough when younger i might have been a culprit the crap you go through when a apprentice.
i agree to making the parts easy to get at as gas leaks are allways inside, so i mount the TEV on the outside directly above the evap, solder type, not much you can do about the probes apart from put them just inside the door.
