Thumbs up Re: Hitachi RAS 63CHA3

hi cactus hope you were not effected by the fires in the north of melbourne. if you search for hitachi on refrigeration engineers you will come across fault codes. these units are in a lot of apartments in st kilda rd and surounding streets. what problems are you having with the machine.

    hi ct,

thanks for the quick reply, the compressor fan has stopped working i have a local tech chasing up a new fan i was just chasing the service manual just in case he needs it.

it was blowing cool air for about 2mins then hot so i went on the roof to check the compressor unit and noticed that the fan blade had come off the motor shaft (loose nut) so i put the fan blade back on. i then turned the unit back on but the fan must of burnt out.
called a local tech to come have a look just hoping thats all it is

local tech has quoted approx AU$600+ including labor does that sound about right?

If you google Hitachi aircon, then go on the UK website, anyone can register for access to their service literature.

    Cheers

    Hi Cactus.
Sorry not listed on U.K. site. I have looked for you.
As they don't list Gardener as an acceptable occupation for access!

if outdoor is similar to european spec, then outdoor fan speed is monitored, fan is 3 speed and usually middle speed burns out.

check correct voltage off board as slim chance that board is faulty rather than motor.

voltage can be checked at quick disconnect plug to fan, again assuming similarity to our units.

Thanks, I'll let the tech know if he runs into problems.
when he was here he did mention something about the motor having a start and a run wind and suspects one is burnt out.

And Cactus is a Gardner not a fridge Engineer!

i would say the unit is more than 5 years old, it was in the house when we purchased it - nothing was left in regards to any of the installed appliances.

and yes i am not a fridge Engineer i'm a gardener who got as far as spotting the loose fan and putting it back on and didn't mess with anything else as i know better than to mess with things i know nothing about.
i have a fridge Engineer chasing a replacement fan and have him doing all the work.

Sorry for dissing you I liked your answer.
But a lot of people have used the experience on this forum.
To go behind their fridge engineers or regular contractors backs!
    If you understand my meaning.
Generally everyone tries to help each other.
But people have been know to con in the past.
Once again well done, I like the fact that you have enlisted an engineers help!

    G'day Grizz,

I wouldn't think of back dooring the engineer and try to attempt the work myself.
I genuinely came here for a service manual incase he replaces the fan and the unit still blows hot air atleast then he will have something to go by if needed.

being sort of a tradey(gardener) i have seen and herd the horror stories of the home handymans attempts to try to fix something they shouldn't of only to cause more damage. i know where your coming from

if aussie a/c is able to chase up the warranty info that'll be a bonus I'll pass the details on to the tech
    to follow up.
