It could be, what does the user/owner of the bunker say?

What are the storage requirement conditions.

if you are required to have tight humidity control, I would say yes you need a dehu

a bunker sounds like concrete,-- no windows to let solar heat in, no lights and computers running to create an internal load so not much to make an AC unit run on temperature control.

Depending on the requirements and the type of aircon. A concrete underground or semi underground bunker will be humid and have relatively low heatload. In this situation then unless close control units are fitted then a dehumidifier will be the more efficient option.

    Re: Key role of dehumidifiers

Ammunition bunker require controlled humidity because some of ammunition is sensitive to condensate and when cold ammunition comes from outside in to relatively hot bunker, surface condensation could occur at ammunition and that could be dangerous. Therefore dehumidifier is needed to keep dew point as low as possible. In fact bunker cooling is not necessary since in there is probably always around 14°C but humidity should be controlled.

Thanks nike how come you say that bunker temperature always remain 14 degree celcius

How to calculate the required capacity of a dehumidifier for a bunker size 7m x 5m x 4m to maintain a humidity level in the range of 40 % to 50%

Bunker for ammunition on which I worked here are always underground. Therefore temperature of 14°C.
