Personaly I think the price diff between the all the cheap & cheerfull range of A/C's and something like a Fujitsu equiv is too close to risk it.

I have not fitted a multi split but I did install 10 york units 4 years ago, they where badged has High Cool units but all York components. I have never had any problems with them other than they are at the noisier than most and the outside fan cover rust a bit. They run in a busy office all summer on cooling and all winter heating. They have never missed a beat since installation and the customer is more than happy with them.

I was looking at a couple of York Cassettes to fit in a restaurant myself.... York is quite an old name and has been around for years and so I assumed that they would be ok.

I had originally priced for my usual Sanyo but have been squeezed on price and so am shopping round for a cheaper unit that would see me past the warranty of 12 months

I have also priced for Fujitsu, another brand that I have had no dealings with... So if push came to shove what would you guys fit.... York or Fujitsu?

Fujitsu. They (like some other makes) specialise in splits. York are a chiller / controls company selling branded splits. Probably OK but not the best available. For a domestic job indoor unit sound levels should be one of the main criteria. Compare them especially if units are going in bedrooms.
If in doubt read the instructions. If still in doubt follow them.

Adam, get some of that money spent. You can't take it with you

    Re: york air con?????

Hi, I have installed 3x HKHC48 14Kw R410 fixed speed cassettes 3 years ago, in use most days of the week for heating and cooling in a hall. At the time they did not have the budget for a Daikin or mitsi etc ( or anything sensible!). They are on the noisy side and have a very sort max pipe run of 25mtrs, but do the job ok for the price. I think you have to appreciate that they are a budget unit so you will get what you pay for and it's important that youi explain this to the client. I have also fitted a few wall units 4+ an 2+ Years old still ok.

    Hi Air Con Adam

Before you move ahead with the YOrk product I would firstly suggest you enquire with York about spares availability.

If after speaking to their spares department you have not given in to the overcoming urges to hang yourself go ahead and buy the product.

If however they provide you as i suspect they will with a useless, slow and un helpful service i would suggest you take this experience and move over to dealing with a a more reputable firm !! Say Daikin Tosh or Mitsi Electric
