    Planning permission

If you asked to do a job and the owner does not have full planning permission for a/c and fridge condensing units, but you get on and install them anyway - who gets into trouble if the permission is denied? and what the worst that can happen?
Originally the architect had one mini vrv feeding 5 units and a condenser each for the freezer and cold rooms, we think there was permission for these before we took the job on. The problem is that now we have 4 split systems instead of the vrv and the 2 fridge units. The restaurant needs to open in a week, all the indoor units are fitted but not connected to anything outside. We still haven't had feedback from planning, they have known about it for a couple of months.

If you read the terms of the planning application, and if you are aware that planning consent to site the external plant is needed, you cannot legally proceed with any works until you know that it is granted.

I believe that the onus is on you, the contractor, as well as the owner, to ensure that all the permissions are in place. The fact that the place is opening tomorrow is neither here nor there.

The planners take a dim view of being asked for retrospective permissions because you can't wait and put the kit in regardless.

It gets even worse if the building is listed.......

    Re: Planning permission

i have had this problems on installations, eventually the council or local authority will win however much like building an extension it is up to the property owner to apply for permission
