wine
hi guys
I have a client that has requested me to build him a refrigerating system where he can slow down the fermentation of wine. He already has a 77 litre tank and would like to keep the wine fermenting at around 15 degrees celcius... Any hints guys
regards
steve

Re: wine
As this is only 77 litres it's a pretty small tank. You could get a small stainless steel coil made that can be put in the tank and match it with a small condensing unit. The problem with a coil on the outside is getting good contact with the tank.
Whatever way you go insulate the tank.

Re: wine
The best way to control the temperature and also the wine quality is using chill water.
I do not have any information of the material of the tank and shape.
I will use a tank to chill water and with a small pump recirculate water throught a coil in the wine tank

Re: wine
You could pass the wine through a heat exchanger, only risk with this is contamination of the wine if the heat exchanger ruptures but at 15 dgrees you should be ok, just make sure safetys are checked regularly.
