    old pipe work

    hi there o wise ones

We ever possible I always replace old for new.But on this occasion i am tempted to re_use the old pipe work. The old system is R 22 the new system is R 407 c. I do not have much faith in endo flush can you recommend something else.

    Many thanks

    Bernard

check before if the diameter of the old pipes will be suitable for R407C.

if the old pipes are in good condition, it will be a good idea toflush and seal the ends and keep them for another job.

    Sorry chem cool

I am removing an old ac system and replacing it with new. The pipe work runs under floor boards and would be very difficult and time consuming to run new pipes can you recommend something better than endo flush to wash the old pipe work

if the capacity of the new system is the same, it should be ok.
but you will have to wash, to get out the mineral oil.

I belive the new unit comes with POE oil and they dont like mixing.

Bernard, sell them one of the new Mitsi invertors, they will self-clean the piepwork for you.

i have quoted some of these recently but i do wonder about the quality of the pipework as it's going from 22 to 410..'could' be an answer but equally could be a bit of a gift horse..

    cheers

    Re: old pipe work

    hi richard,

he says its for R407C, so no problem with the pressure.

if the pipes are in one piece, I would say its ok to go with changing as lond as you clean the system.

    Re: old pipe work

If you are upgrading to a system that uses R410a then the pipework must be changed - not cleaned - as the new pipework must meet the requirements for the increased pressures. Obviously, if the old pipework has the correct wall thickness then all will be OK if you can get the mineral oil out, but I doubt the old pipework will meet the new requirements.

    Re: old pipe work

With old pipework you inherit old problems.

Contamination from previous burn-outs you may not know of, incompatible oil residues and unknown leaks. Not to mention insulation that may be past its sell-by-date.

I don't care who endorses it, thoroughly bad practice and needs to be discouraged.
