LG not bringing on outdoor fan

Got an LG wall mount AS-H12 R407c. We have found that the unit outdoor fan won't run.
    Heating
On first start up the indoor fan runs as normal (which I would not expect) then the comp runs but the outdoor fan doesn't.

    Checking power from indoor -
    1 comp (live
    2 N
    3 RV (live)
    4 Fan (dead)
Not checked on cooling due to time available.

We suspect the indoor board but we were told that had been changed recently.

    Any clues

Perhaps the outdoor temperature too low to allow the fan to run.

Some makes do this to prevent overloading the system, don't know about LG, sorry.

Where did you check power? On indoor or outdoor unit?

Then, if PCB was changed because of that, thermistors could be faulty. Maybe thermistor sends wrong temperature to PCB and PCB see that as outdoor high temperature and goes to overheat protection mode.
    Check thermistors!

I gather this is just a conventional compressor with only an indoor PCB? ie. not inverter and there's no defrost PCB in the outdoor?
If so, like nike123 says, in heat mode if the indoor coil thermistor is reading above ~55C, the indoor PCB will disable the outdoor fan to bring the coil temp down.
If the indoor coil is below 55C, then possible thermistor fault.

Yes combined with the indoor fan running at start up rather than waiting for the coil to warm suggests coil sensor is faulty..

    Thanks all

check fan motor neutral is not being broken through compressor contactor as this used to be an issue with lg outdoors,

If you check the original post and you will see this is not applicable as the live feeding the fan is missing and has nothing to do with the netural......

    Thanks for playing
