Whats a Sales Engineer

just be browsing through the Jobs Section (AS YOU DO !)
There seems to be a few jobs for Sales Engineers, can anybody tell me what a sales engineer actualy does

A Sales Engineer is a promoted field service engineer.....He knows all the practical stuff.......When an enquiry comes in he visits the customer, undertakes site visits, he has all the sales literature, he quotes for work, sizes work, estimates, and hopefully gets the job for the company.

A " Sales Engineer" is exactly as the name implies.......an engineer who can sell

It is pointless sending out a big mouth blabber smart ass salesguy with his sales platter to go flog something technical, like a cold room, an air conditioner or a supermarket chiller......if he knows nothing about the technical side.

So a company will look for a smart ass field service engineer, someone who looks good, talks good, is pursuasive, a guy who wants to get out of his overalls and into a Ford Mondeo.

This guy is now unleashed into the " market". He can talk techno, he does all the sizing, a customer cant embaress him asking some technical questions.....this guy knows it all....

So ask yourself :

Am I fed up changing driers?
Do I look cool in a suit
When I utter something is it coherent?
Do people " like" me when they first see me?
Do I like calculators, palm tops and lap tops, do you know what is bluetooth??
Do I like sucking up???? to the boss!!!
Do I like meetings..........
Do i like exhibitions.....and sometimes far flung places??
Can you sell sand to the Arabs?




If you answered " yes" to all them questions........then "yes" you will make a good Sales Engineer!!!!

Yes to all, except sucking up to the bos, and selling sand to the arabs lol... would that lessen your chances of gaining employment?? hehe
