Pls Help: FORCED AIR Pre-Coolers for Pineapples/Banana

Hi. Pineapples/Bananas are the main agricultural products we have in the country thus we have a lot of Cold Storage requirement for their Pre-Coolers. However, most of the clients require 'FORCED AIR COOLING' Design which uses axial fans to suck the cold air through the product boxes. Although we are confident we can install the said equipments, we are hoping we could get more information on the design itself. How to compute the size of axial fans to match with your Unit Cooler and Air-Cooled Condensing Unit. Lay-out. Do we need humidifiers to maintain the high RH requirement, how do we compute humidifier size? We really hope somebody can give us information or maybe sources for the said Forced Air Systems.

    Thanks

Making fans has nothing to do with the requirements to hold a certain RH in a cold room and the sizing of the cooling unit.
Can you calculate for the original poster what type and how much fans he will need?
There' a lot of field experience needed in this specific field to calculate those.
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

you will have to start with the load of the fruit and at what temperatures it is starting at and what temperature you want it to reach and how quickly you want to extract the heat. This will need to be looked at before the airflow. You will also have to look at the resistance of the air through the boxes, i think this is going to be a difficult one for you i am afraid.

There is some information about forced air coolers in the net.
    some informations talk about
    Airflow : 0,5 to 1,5 L/s/kg product
Static pressure: maximum 25 mm water gauge
Very important: check there is no by-pass from the air exiting the coil
Concerning humidity you have to know the cooling time may be is not so important for some hours.

Don't go there unless you know what you are doing.
Humidity control and temperature , and CO2 are critical, one day all fine next day a pile of fermeting mush.
