information retrieval systems
First and foremost...HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL AND BEST WISHES FOR A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR !!!! Now to my inquiry. I am interested in setting up a bar code label style information retrevial system . I would like to identify equipment using bar code label that can be scanned by tech, on site, to download service history, warranty coverage, maintainence schedule, etc. If anyone has information directing me to suppiler of this type of system, I would greatly appreciate the help. In these times of competition, any " leg up " is valuable. Thanks again and best wishes to all !!!!
Don't leave it like you found it.....Leave it like it should be !!!

Re: information retrieval systems
.
It may not be the sort of thing that sits on the shelf as a ready-made product, but most of the manufacturers of split systems and the like have bar-code systems in their manufacturing process.
It all depends on how much it costs to bespoke a version for your needs and the answer to that is as long as a piece of string.
Guess you need a bar-code expert, as well as a refrigeration man.

Re: information retrieval systems
I seem to remember a range of 'service software' where all of the information was stored on the office PC.
The plant items were identified by bar code but the technician only scanned them to prove that he had seen the bar code.
