Re: Carrier Split Heat Pump Systems
I think you'll find it was the other way around. Carrier took over Toshiba. They both reside in the same HQ building in Woking but operate totally independently. In the mid / late 80's Carrier chiller & VAV system sales were getting beaten up by the the Japs and VRF/V systems. There was no way Carrier could develop their own VRF system to compete in time so they employed the well know management tactic of -"if you can't beat em - buy them".
Carrier technical support in the UK is (sadly) a shadow of its former self after they had a clear out and re-structure during the last recession in 1996 (I was a casualty). However, you might do better by contacting one of their distributors - Try Heronhill.co.uk who sell Carrier splits, packaged systems and spares. Whilst they've only been appointed recently they should have access to all the older system info.If in doubt read the instructions. If still in doubt follow them.

Re: Carrier Split Heat Pump Systems
Sorry for delay been away over Xmas.
Nope. Sales / Dealer /Prod mannagement / Tech. Started in Weathermaker (Carlyle) 1976 (Abbeydale Road NCR), then Carrier Distribution (Alperton Lane Wembley), then moved to Carrier Hayes office when Wembley closed down, then worked from home, then redundant. 20 years in total with Carrier in one form or another. Fridgidaire Service before that.
What branch of Carrier were you with? (just seen one of your other posts). If in doubt read the instructions. If still in doubt follow them.
