    Re: Change R417a to R22

R417a is a direct replacement for R22 so yes you should be able to use R22, check that the oil is compatible.

Remember that R22 is being phased out in some parts of the world

That doesn't mean that you can fill it up with R22. Generally R417a is used as a replacement for R22, not the other way around.

If the system has been designed for R417a, then I wiould suggest that you buy the correct grade of refrigerant as the system may have been optimised to suit R417a. You could invalidate any warranty by using the wrong grade of refrigerant.

maybe so , but we have taken 404a units in the past with poe oil and changed the valve and converted to r22, so as long as 417a is a drop in for r22 the valve if fitted should be quite close , it may just be a case of putting r22 in and giving it a go adjusting the s/heat , I certainly would and just carefully monitor it for a day or 2 after all hes on an oil platform and wont be going anywhere and being on an oil platform the enviroment would hardly be an issue.

Why were you asking in the first stage, then? You are already convinced, then go ahead.

    Hi!

R417A is developed by Rhodia and now sold to DuPont. It's easy available in Asia e.g S'pore n Malaysia. If u r in Marine sector, u may contact Unitor Ship supply etc.

    Re: Change R417a to R22

Hi! R417A is market by DuPont also known as Isceon MO-59. This product should be available if u contact their distributor or otherwise, u should be able to source it fm Unitor ship service since u mentioned it is meant for oil-rigger.

We have stock for R417A but unfortunately we are based in S'pore.

As suggested by most of our members, I agree u should not put R22 back into this system as by law especially in EU, all equipment must be zero ODS.

    Have a good day!

    Regards
