Chiller ballpark pricing and energy consumption
Hi,
I'm new to this forum - I hope I'm not breaking any rules with this thread.
I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at UBC working on a design project involving chilling air for an industrial application.
I was wondering if anyone would have ballpark information on pricing and energy consumption for the chiller (only) used in the application described below:
- Required cooling capacity: 400 tons (1.4 MW)
- Cool air to -15 degC at 70000CFM (35 m^3/s)
- No makeup air required
- DX coil evaporator w/ electric defrost
- Unit to operate 12hrs/day
- Outside ambient temperature is 40 degC
- Humidity can be kept as low as possible
I don't have much experience with refrigeration, but I did a little textbook reading and thought that a water cooled chiller and cooling tower would be suitable for this application.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
