    Reclaim rig for re gasing?

does anyone ever do this? if a tub of hot water to sub merge your bottle in wasn't possible, and if you didn't want to put your life in danger by putting your turbo tourch on the bottle to increase its pressure (which i never do, BUT i have seen lads at our place do it) , could i use re claim rig to charge?

if im not mistaken i believe its just a compressor and a condenser, it would mean putting liquid onto the compressor but this is done when reclaiming anyway?

i have never seen anyone do it and i haven't attempted it myself so im sure theres a reason why it cant be done or the unit would be sold sold re-gas/reclaim rigs

I see no reason why not, I have done it myself in the past to get the last bit in with a light load not doing it itself.

Obviously you need to be careful as you could be putting a high pressure in where it shouldn't oughta go.

yeah so with all the correct precautions it could be done, we always vac and then "bomb" charge, but some times for that last bit we have to run the unit, just trying to think of alternatives.

    Hi

My concern would be cross contamination from the reclaim unit to the clean gas, I.e if you've recliamed from a sytem that has had a burntout you could contaminate the new gas going through the recliam unit and lines.
Throttle the liquid line so you reduce the suction pressure, which will then pull your refrigerant in

Agree with the cross contamination potential but any gas going through the reclaim machine should have been fully filtered as per unit instructions.

Also if machine has been properly purged after use then the danger should be minimal.

not all machines are able to do this, and if they can, be sure to have new filters at hand to avoid having contamination either way.

yes its quite normal to use the push pull method. to take the vapour from one gas bottle to pressurise a second bottle where you would use the liquid from the 2nd bottle to charge the system < obviously using double valve bottles<

Re: Reclaim rig for re gasing?

I've charged two sytems like this, one today and one yesterday.

It was a new reclaim unit, so I didn't have to worry about contamination. I found that I had to be careful with the ammount of refrigerant entering the reclaim unit though.

Still found it to be alot quicker than charging the traditional way.

talking about the push pull method. of gassing a sysem up . we normaly know thefull gas charge <kg< so why not charge liquid into the condencer , if its a chiller < on r22 the criticle psi is 58 so put 58psi vapour to make sure there is no frost on the system and turn on the water pump weigh in the gas and job done ,is this not normally done?
