FF fan problem can u help pease
Hi,
I don't normally do much with domestics so I am admittedly a bit rusty. If you can help me I am in your debt. I have been called to a customer with a large Bosch FF KGU36193. The problem is obvious, the freezer section fan will not operate, the solution however is not so clear.
The fan is free spinning and measures a reasonable resistance on the ohmmeter, so I am presuming it to be OK. At the plug in point I am measuring 15 volts AC.
My questions are : Does anyone have a schematic for this unit so that I can establish what voltage the fan should be supplied with. and/or.. Can anyone say whether the evap fan is likely to be 240V or 12V as it is not marked at all.
Many thanks,
Trevor

Re: FF fan problem can u help pease
Sorry I can't help as I don't know anything about bosch, but aren't the low voltage motors DC?
Whats the point of stepping down 240v AC to 12V AC? Most of the time low voltage is used, it's for speed control, which has to be in DC volts. If I'm seeing 15V ac I'm going to guess the supply voltage is wrong.
Good luck though, I hope there's a bosch specialist here.

Fan usually gets the 'zero" from the defrost heater.
When the fan not running, check first the defrost heater for conductivity.
Supco makes spare parts that fit almost all fridges.

I think I will have to pass on this one because I know I will have trouble getting parts here anyway. But thanks for your replies fella's, constructive as ever.
