    Oil

Didn't knew in what section to post:
IN a Belgium magazine, Terre was an extract and an interview of the new book of Paul Roberts ' The end of Oil - On the edge of a Perilous New World'

After reading, i had to swallow more than once and became even more convinced that oil will be the most determining factor in political issues.

Have also a look at http://www.motherjones.com/news/qa/2...ul_rob_qa.html for an interesting interview with the writer of the book.

For us, refrigeration technicians, lower that HP with all possible means (ground coils, water, lakes, ponds, heat reclaim of hot water,...) and consumption will drop enormous. We did one and this winter, it ran almost 2 months on a LP of 4,3 bar/-5°C and a HP of 8,5 bar/15°C, 10 K subcooling which gave us a COP of more than 5.5!

Use of free cooling if possible.

Don't let all those packs run on a stable HP, whatever ambient temperatures may reach..

Size the lines with minimum prerssure drops.

    Re: Oil

    Speaking of free cooling.
Yesterday in the HV news, there was an article about using nautural ventilation for free cooling.
This morning i went to survey a job where i think i could use it.
Normally, i would just install roof extract fans and fresh air inlet louvres, to give 6 ac/hr.
BUT........ I want to try these

Anybody done anything like this yet?

    cheers

    Hi Eggs,
There are many ways to extract air out of a building, some with moving parts and some without.

In the modern world, where we employ sophisticated AC systems, to my opinion, economiser doe's the job best and supply fresh cool air when the out temp is below a set point.

    eggs,

have also a look at http://www.ntnu.no/em/dokumenter/sma...of-the-art.pdf

    http://www.aivc.org/medias/pdf/air0203_web_ed.pdf

And this one is also a evry good link on the Sintef site, especially the references links at the end of the paper
    http://www.ntnu.no/em/dokumenter/sma...of-the-Art.pdf

Sintef, a Norwegian engineering company is doing a lot of research in this field. www.sintef.no

www.renson.be, a Belgium manufacturer of grilles, dampers was one of the first to introduce this system.

There can't be a false ceiling or carpet on the floor. You need as lot mass as possible - preferable concrete - in the building to store energy.
We once made an offer for an airco ( 6 VRF's wit +/- 40 indoor units) and they finally installed a huge ventilation system (air change more than 10 times) It seems working very well.
