Pipe Wall Thickness
What kind of wall thickness is required for copper tubing in evaporator running at ultra low temp i.e. -90F SST.
Any ideas!!

Re: Pipe Wall Thickness
The pressure that you need to refer to is the static pressure at the ambient temperature when the system is not running.

Re: Pipe Wall Thickness
As Brian indicated, the wall thickness is based on the highest observed pressure. It does not matter if it is running or not. Which condition has the highest pressure?
Obviously, for this case cited the highest pressure would be during a shut down condition. If all else fails, ask for help.

Re: Pipe Wall Thickness
I suppose you could also look at the crushing conditions when the pipe is surrounded by ice ???

Re: Pipe Wall Thickness
To be honest I wouldn't think that there would be a major icing problem.
To achieve those temperatures would normally require a(n) (en)closed space so there would be a limited amount of moisture to be turned into ice.Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK
