    Caterpiller 330D Digger



    can anybody tell me what weight of gas A/C system holds Machine is about 4 years old.

    I don't know the answer but would like to offer a method that I was taught 100 years ago that worked many times without fail.
    "Pressure temp. meathod" (Last resort use only)
    Take a ambiant air temp measurement 1 inch away from condenser at center. (Middle of condenser, one inch from coil)
    Take measurement and add 40 (R134a example used here). Then go to PT chart, (Pressure temp.), and that should be your discharge pressure at normal operating situation.
    Hope this helps. It bailed me out a few times in the bush. It's not the right way but.... No call backs.

    well i ended up takeing a guess to-day
    i filled it with 800 gms 134a found out later on that it should have been 900 grams
    So dont tell the machine operator or he will think it isent cold enough

    ps will try out your method a few times on systems that i know the quantities thanks
