    Red face invoice samples

Basing this request on operating in the United States, does anyone have suggestions on sources for invoices and proposal samples. I have operated for 7 yrs. and am finding it is necessary to revamp my paperwork. I would like information on where to obtain several styles of invoices so I may modify, if necessary, wording and legal statements to fit my circumstances. Programs available on disc to be purchased at office supply companies are so vague that they are useless. The customers have become highly trained to look for any loophole to avoid payment and service charges, knowing court takes forever and we will probably settle for whatever we can get. Thank you for any direction that may help. Hope everyone out there stays safe, healthy and profitable. Have a great day !! Feisty. Chgo, Illinois

I think you need to obtain a precedent from an Attorney who specialises in Commercial & Business Law.

Basically in any transaction you enter into a "contract" It is important that your terms are incorporated into any contract.

You need to pay particular heed that your terms and conditions will stand up to any scrutiny and in court.

You need to focus on your terms and conditions, instead of the call for payment , which the invoice represents. Off my head, issues relating to retention of title for instance

I am not versed on US law, it is essential you obtain legal opinion from a US source.

Thanks, Abe , for the advice. I am primarily intereted in sample layout formats and what works out there at this time. I would lie to modify existing forms before I approach my attorney to proofread my choices. There seems to be only 1 supplier who mails out very generic forms at this time. I have my counter guys asking other companies they do business with for a voided blank to get an idea of what works for them. It's rather ironic that I was a commercial printer for 24 years before my " big move " into Refrigeration. All that time spent and can't locate 1 usable sample. Go figure !!. Again...thanks for the feedback and my request for advice and samples stil stands. Everybody have a safe day !! Feisty

If I'm not mistaken, there are sample invoice layouts within Microsoft Office software - especially Excel.

Have a look at 'Start New Document' in Excel

Thanks Frank. That lead really helped me in getting to where I wanted to be. Seems like the more clearly you state something, the more clouded the results. I am finding the more you try to explain what they are paying for, the less they want to know. Then it blows up in your face later with the famous " YOU NEVER TOLD ME THAT !! ". I am just trying to cover all the bases before I lose the game. Again thanks for the lead. Have a great day !! Feisty

    Fiesty
    Try looking at MrHVAC.com
I found this site many years ago although it is more American orientated than for my Australian market.
