What is the best way to mount a split to a wall?

I've got a fairly heavy unit to mount, it's a 70kg condensing unit. I've never put one that heavy up before, what's the most reliable anchoring system? It's a standard exterior domestic clay brick wall, probably hollow bricks too.
Any recommemdations? I was just going to use a 150kg wall bracket (the type that hangs of rails and is adjustable)

for me fischer fixing will take some beating,so i would use this fixing

    http://apps.fischer.de/poc/default.aspx?page=layer&layertype=Z&sprache=EN&kat=$MART-HK-$MKAT-HK-$MPG-SCHWERSTAHL-$MZG-FH&ekat=$EKAT-HK-EN

iam not a fan of wall brackets kits,so it would be 40mmx40mm uni strut fixed vertically to the wall with cantilever arms

    Hi, Superswill!
For these anchors to hold something which vibrates you need concrete wall! I suggest chemical anchors like this in considerable numbers (every10-15 cm of rail ) if brick wall mortar and bricks is in very good shape. If not, then he need some yoke on the other side of wall.
Everything depends on what puling force can wall withstand at unit of surface.
Steady 70 kg is not much, but vibrating 70 kg shall be multiplied by 10.

OK, they are just the standard dynobolt fittings made by ramset here. I have them, 100mm long and 12mm dia, I just thought there may have been something better these days as I hate them
I don't really trust any expansion or threaded bolts in normal housebricks when it's a vibrating 70kg load.

Rawl bolts are ideal for fixing in brick.
We use m8 x 100 which requires a 14dia hole. Fixed units up to 80kg with no problems on the 140kg brackets.

Ive used rawl bolts and had no problem mount unit on unistrut cantilever type brackets with unistrut first fixed to wall first. Use 10mm bolts and zebs to connect to unistrut

We use 140kg Rodigas brackets that we pick up from Actrols. They come with a spirit level built in and 12mm plastic plugs and bolts that seem to take up alot better than dyna bolts.

Same here. If worried, add additional rawlbolt fixing(s), to be sure to be sure.

Re: What is the best way to mount a split to a wall?

Anyone know the best place to get the unitstrut cantilever brackets in perth, australia?
All the electrical wholesalers always rip me off, so if that's the only choice what's the cheapest one?
Last time I dealt with unistrut it was at a place in belmont called megastrut. I don't think they're around anymore and it's a bit out of the way anyway.
    Cheers,
    Paul

I just want to repair PCBs and the odd fan/compressor. I don't want to install them but I have no choice, but I know stuff all about where to get stuff.

    Anyone used ezystrut in malaga?

edit: This is a different job by the way. I need to wall mount another split 200mm of the ground. The only reason why it is on the wall at all is because it's rough ground and not level.
Adjustable wall brackets from refrig wholesalers would be overkill.
I'm going to play with unistrut because I'm looking to build an a/c hoist similar to sub zeros so I want to get familiar with unistrut.

Thumbs up Re: What is the best way to mount a split to a wall?

Hi there, the hanging bracket type that comes with sleeved M8 bolts is probably the best option as they are specifically designed for such an application, 41 x 41 Uni-Strut may be stronger but it looks crap (galv against beige paint is a no-no), the main factor to consider is the sheer-weight of the fixing bolt and an M8 will hold up to 150 kg alone, so if u use the set of 4 supplied u can go wrong, but if the wall is of poor condition, try using studding and fish plates if at all possible, i.e. a warehouse building as this is not a very asthetically pleasing to the eye in an office block, lol, Al.

70kg unit , Pffft thats a doddle . Heres a 15KW unit ( 120kg ) I mounted on 3 x cantilever brackets and Ramset dynasets , and just to be sure we ran 2 x threaded rods up into a beam behind the eves and pulled that up to take the weight . Its been there for years now. The only thing is there's some vibration through the brick veneer wall . Cantilever brackets are cheap just dont buy them from electrical wholesalers , surely theres some wholesalers selling them in Perth?

I would have used the 2 x 1m uni and bolted that to the wall. Then used 2 cantilever arms. That would have spread the load over a much greater area of the wall. (and saved a cantilever arm)

If vibration is a problem just add small anti vib's under the 4 x feet

Re: What is the best way to mount a split to a wall?

That's a thing I've noticed in australia after posting this thread. I've seen unistrut cantilever arms used here a lot, it seems everyone here bolts them straight onto a wall.
While most of you UK guys actually use them as intended and put unistrut on the wall and bolt the arms to the strut.
    Strange hey?

BTW, thanks for the two guys mentioning Caddy wholesalers.
