What is the average going rate?

What is the average wage around the UK for people working on Air Con. I know people may not be happy saying as such but i dont see why.
The only reason i ask is that many of the people i know at different companies seem to be on a lot more than my company pays so i am going in for a payrise but need to know what the going rate is??

Until recently, you could easily earn £45k+ if you were willing to work in central London and do some overtime.

In todays climate... be glad that you still got a job to go to in the mornings.

Marc, from an employers point of view, differant people deserve differant pay. Lazy gits get lazy gits pay, average fitters get average pay, and the superstars that actually do a days work get a bit better.
How much do you think you are worth?
Can you honestly say you make your company what you earn now? Every day?
Do you want a salary and bonus or do you want an hourly rate + premium time?
Do you get 19 days plus bank holidays or do you get 25 + bank hols?
    There are so many variabls.
You have to decide if you are worth £7.50 or £15.00 only you know.

Just found my HVCA hourly rate guide.

    Installer £9.07
    Craftsman £10.00
    Senior Craftsman £10.90
    Foreman £13.20.

This is for a 38 hr week, 4.6 weeks holiday + 8 bank holidays.
It is a little out of date but it will give you an idea.

Re: What is the average going rate?

I think i am worth a little bit more than what i am on now and i beleive i do make my company money each day.

I work very hard to please, never have time off, work away at the drop of a hat (unlike most of my colleagues ).
I have 20 days holiday and bank holidays and I'm probably the only one in the company that hasn't crashed their van.

I'll work any hours asked and am always eager to learn.
I've gone to college each saturday for the past year, 200 mile round trip to do my NVQ, in my own time.

I have a few friends that work for different companies and they want me to join them and are all offering more money but i like where i am just would like to be paid the going rate which at the minute i feel i am just under.

I appreciate that i am "lucky" to have a job, with all thats going on at the minute but i feel that i am worth a bit more, something i hope my boss agrees with.

Re: What is the average going rate?

    I`m a lazy git and i am on £14.36 an hour,but i dont do much a/c.

So in theory i get about £33 a day just for banging my head against a wall, which doesnt sound that bad.
If it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.

The Viking, you said , happy to have a job.
I just did a search on the worldwide jobsite of Monster.
In the UK are more Refr. techs needed then in whole Canada (116 against 70 and 11 in Belgium, 48 Netherlands)

Seems the UK desperately searches for techs
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

...........and i have 2 lists of subbies. The good ones, who are all booked up.........and the bad ones, who really should be applying for jobs with the nationals where their laziness can be hidden and they can collect their wages.

Nothing like a good recession to trim off the work shy, tracker objecting, the world owes me a living, i don't get paid enough to do that, dead ends.

Have you expressed this opinion to your boss? what was his response?

if you don't ask you don't get, but you then have two choices if the answer is not what you want.

in the current times, maybe job security is better than a quick payrise and then sweeping cutbacks that may include you.
