calcium Chloride with NH3 absorption
hey guys...
i am designing an absorption air conditioning and ice maker system... i got some questions....
1. what's the best steel material to use as a generator?
stainless steel? non-galvanized steel? aluminum?
my concern in the material will be a better non-corrosive and a high thermal conductivity. im planning to used the aluminum but i dont know if it could withstand the pressure (up to 2000psi) and if it reacts with the liquid ammonia.
2. for my evaporator:
whats the best material for a my evaporator/ collector? ill be using brine water supplement on my NH3 collector, so it should be a high corrosive resistance.
i am considering a stainless steel over a non-galvanized steel, it is quite expensive but do you think that it will compensate on the length of used
thanks for the help

Re: calcium Chloride with NH3 absorption
What type of absorption system works on 2000 psi? The absorption systems I know work on 2000 kpa (about 300 psi). That is the ammonia, hydrogen, water systems. Here you can use any type of steel and aluminium as long as it contains no copper.
Why use calcium chloride and not glycol?

Re: calcium Chloride with NH3 absorption
For sure you cannot use Stainless Steel with calcium chloride ( because of the pitch corrosion of SS due by chlor )
