You really need to get yourself a service manual. Then you could have sorted this one very easily.

All fault codes for the outdoor unit address & 5101 through to about 5112 are for outdoor unit temperature sensors.

5108 is a temperature sensor fault on the outdoor unit TH8 subcooler coil outlet.

The sensor will most likely be open circuit or closed circuit but should be reading around 6 to 7 Kohms at around 20 deg C or about 4 Kohms at 30 deg C.

On the back of the inverter box access panel you will see the circuit diagram & you will see all the temperature sensors plugged into the circuit board along the bottom of the board.

If you have the service manual you can do the dips on SW1 & read the temperature data for each temperature sensor. Using this method all you need to take with you to the outdoor unit is a srewdriver & you dont even need to take a muli meter. If the outdoor unit has been stopped on this fault then all the temp sensors should be the same temp about the same as the ambient temp. So as you check the data from each sensor you may find one TH8 is not reading the correct temp.
Typically the sensor will read minus 40 deg C or lower & 130 Kohms for open circuit.
Plus 70 deg C or higher 1.4 Kohms for closed circuit.

Be careful of 5101 , 5102 & 5103 faults as these can be a temperature sensor fault on an indoor unit but the remote controller should also give the indoor unit address so that you know which one to look at.

On PURY heat recovery systems there are also some 51?? faults for the temperature sensors on the B/C distribution box. But again the remote controller should display the fault code & the address of the B/C box so that you know to look at the box & not the outdoor or indoor units.

    Dear Thermtech
    As allwys u r a champ.
I just returned from overseas and stright to work from the air-port.
You are right about the manuel but if you remember the guys from Mitsubishi here in Australia insist that the book for the B is the same one.
Do you know someone I can order this book from him? Does Mitsubishi UK have it?
Again thank you for your reply and help

Re: Help on Mitsubishi city multy

The YMF-C model was an evolution of the YMF-B model.
All the fault codes & data dip switch settings are the same for both models.
Although there are two service manuals & there are some basic differences between the two units they do share most common information.
So for the temp sensor problem the PMF-B service handbook contains exact the same info as the YMF-C service hanbook.
