    R410A Service Ports

Just come across a R410A machine with 1/4" Schraeder/Service ports

Is the fitting of 5/16" ports on R410A equipment a legal requirement in the UK or just an industry standard?

I think some of the American and eastern makes have 1/4" connections for sale in thier home markets, i think the 5/16" is a european thing but could be wrong.

Lets be honest though if a 'engineer' is deciding which gas a system runs on by which set of gauges fits on the equipment he should looking for a different job.

On a panasonic 3.5kw wall mount inverter about 6-7 years ago, the suction port was 5/16 but the high side was a standard 1/4 connection.
